Darlin is one of my original babies. She was part of my first batch of students and, truth be told, one of my favorites. There is just something about her laugh that makes it hard not to love her. As I sought out different forms of love for my A Love Like This project, I kept going back to Darlin’s Facebook page and the accounts of her relationship with Tyler, a soldier with the US Army. Their relationship is one of distance but you would never guess it. Even in the brief snippets displayed in wall posts and in pictures, I felt their connection and knew I wanted to document it myself.
A few weeks ago, Tyler came to Miami on leave to visit Darlin and we were able to spend an afternoon making pictures. This is what a love like this looks like…one of young love that is keeping pace despite the distance.
