So last weekend my sister, Yani, and I went to see the Dave Matthews Band. The last time we saw them, back in 2000 I think, was pretty epic. We got slammed by a rain storm just before we walked out to the parking lot. Everyone waited under the overhang just watching the torrential down pour. Then suddenly, as if we all decided the same thing at the same time, everyone made a run for it. I was knee deep in water, drenched and unable to find the car. I’ll never forget that memory. Many of my fondest memories are with my sister at a some concert or another. This time was no different. I got Yani tickets to see the DMB for her birthday and last Saturday hauled our happy butts to West Palm Beach. I should make this an Away We Go post since we drove so far.
We got there way early since we had lawn seats and wanted to get up in front. It’s like my movie theater anxiety times 1000 (I have to discuss this in another post). So we get there and wait. We wait and sweat. I swear, I have never sweated as much as I did that day. Of course the concert was fantastic. DMB always is. It was the first time I took our Canon Powershot out for a spin. I shot mostly without flash. Would I have shot killer pictures with my professional camera? Yup. But I’m happy to say the point-and-shoot held up. I’m going to call him Bernie.

Dave came out to introduce the opening band. I was buying t-shirts. Yani took both these pictures.
We thought it was going to pour, but it passed right by us.

Yani told me I was stalking this couple, but I was just stalking their silhouette.

While I took the the last three sets of pictures, the band was playing “Cortez the Killer,” a Neil Young cover with this dude Warren Haynes. I got goosebumps listening to it. It was amazing. Here is the cover when they played at Central Park. It’s pretty darn close to what we heard.
Love, e
