When they ask me what was my favorite part of the summer, I’ll have to say the notes. Every morning I get a note with wishes for a good day, sweet words, encouragement. I love them and love him even more. When they ask me what was the most interesting part of the summer, before I say Spain (I can imagine) or how I face all my fears, I’ll say all the movies that I have watched. After I got back from New Hampshire I decided to do a Netflix trial so I can stream movies on the laptop while I work on the desktop. It gets rather lonely throughout the day. And, while I love music, sometimes it just doesn’t cut it. Here is a list of stuff I have watched so far (not including the DVDs that I watched before Netflix):
Noting Hill, Who’s That Girl?, Just One of the Guys, Center Stage, 2012, Confessions of a Shopaholic, The Proposal, Mallrats, Sleepless in Seattle, Sense and Sensibility, Monsters, Inc. (about half an hour of this), Revenge of the Nerds, The Ugly Truth (About 15 minutes of this…what a crappy movie), Sweet Home Alabama, Penelope, Serendipity, A League of Their Own, The Mighty Ducks, The Sandlot, Zombieland, Pushing Daisies (Season 2, about 3 episodes, 10 more to go).
Now, you might see a trend; it’s either chick movies or movies I loved when I was a kid. The requirements are movies that I have seen at least once that can blend into the background. Now, you might be saying, “Christ, Elaine. No wonder you’re so stressed. You can’t get anything done.” On the contrary, this has bumped up my productivity. As I write this, I’m watching the original Hairspray. It keeps me focused, oddly enough, while giving me a little reprieve every now and then. For example, yesterday I took a little break from editing a wedding so that I could watch the scene in The Sandlot when Wendy Peffercorn gets good and kissed by Michael “Squints” Palledorous, “I can’t take it anymore!” It was a good break.
So where you come in, is that you need to recommend movies to help me make it through the last of the summer. I need funny movies, chick movies, nothing depressing. Netflix might not have all of them to watch instantly but at least I will have a starter list. I’d be much obliged.
