Greetings from Spain!

I apologize for my severe lack of posting for the past week between reporting back to school, getting everything ready for my week long absence, packing for Spain and traveling here, I had to put the blog on the back burner.

We finally made it to Madrid last night after a long commute. I have to say if you are going to fly here, try to make it direct. Vale? That’s what they say here instead of Ok. It’s fun.

Our hotel is fantastic, modern and clean with nice views of the Gran Via (one of the main roads here). Today we took a trip to see the Prado Museum. We had a late start. I’m talking one in the afternoon late, but were able to see a good chunk of the place. I know that we didn’t even see a fraction of it, though. It was pretty amazing to see Rembrandt and Goya up close. We took a little detour before we headed back to the hotel to visit a botanical garden next to the museum. We didn’t stay long because Mike wasn’t feeling it and we were so tired from all the walking.

We love Madrid. The little bit we have seen has left us delighted. I’m fascinated by the mix of modern and old. Some parts remind us of Manhattan and others are clearly from another time. I can’t wait to discover more of this city and country. Here are some pictures of the places we have been so far:
