Holy Crap.

I don’t know if you’ve gathered from reading my rants that I’m a big reader. I’m also big on research. Anytime I don’t understand something, I look it up and read. Why is this crappy printer not connecting to my computer? Google it. Bam! Figured it out. When I started in this business I googled a lot. What the frick is an LLC? What’s the best exposure for full sun? And so it went.

I also researched other photographers. Not to copy their style or jack ideas, mind you, but to be inspired; to gather any kernel of wisdom they dished out so that I could later decide what would be of use to me.  The good thing to note is that, in the end, not matter what I read, I still did things my way and went by my instincts. I still do.

There are very few photographers that prove inspiring to me whether is be their pictures or their personalities or their complete belief in their vision. I take this and I keep chugging along hoping to achieve and find that vision in myself.

But then sometimes things just stop you cold. And you feel so utterly inspired. THIS is one of those things (the video is embedded below). A photographer I particularly admire, Jonas Peterson, who shoots in Australia and all over the world and is just amazing, linked to this video and I had to share it. Read Jonas’ original post HERE.

All I can say is holy crap. I don’t know why but everything about this makes me believe in what I’m doing. It makes me happy that I get to take pictures of people celebrating life. I get to take pictures of people at their best and happiest moments; at their most alive and real. This is a blessing that I never fail to be grateful for. This video sums up everything that a wedding should be and everything that a photographer or videographer should want to capture. I only hope that I can do the same for the couples and families who trust me to be their photographer.

Here is the video. If you are bride looking for a videographer, what are you waiting for? His name is Rob an he can be reached at rob@cherishfilm.com.
