When my friend Andrea‘s sister Chantel contacted me about taking family portraits of her family, I jumped at the chance. They were only going to be in Miami from Auburn for a few days to celebrate Andrea’s wedding. I was pumped. See, I’ve followed Chantel’s blog, Yucababy, and have seen her little girl, Penny, go from the cutest little baby to the cutest little girl. The only catch for me was that it was going to be a solo shoot since Mike had to work. I worried because, though I’m great with kids (hello, teacher?), kids love Mike. I mean, they are drawn to him. I’m happy to say that Penny warmed up to me and let me see her spunky personality. She’s so much fun. Here are some of my favorites from this shoot.
She had so many great expressions:

Penny found a palm frond and called it “Dragon Hair.”

She also found coconuts and completely fell in love.

Chantel is a published author and wrote about our session on her blog, Yucababy. She had this to say about our shoot:

I am beyond flattered. It’s rare that you hear a client’s perspective like this.
Chantel and Orlando, thank you for giving me the opportunity of photographing your family and your wonderful Penny. It was a special treat spending a few hours with you guys talking books, playing with “dragon hair” and laughing over Penny’s love of coconuts. I can’t tell you how grateful I am.
Love, e
