I never set out to become a photographer who takes boudoir photos; it sort of just fell onto my lap. An amazing friend of mine asked me to take boudoir pictures as a wedding present for her fiance. I gladly accepted not knowing then that it was the shoot that would start it all for me. It’s been a whirlwind since.
I love taking boudoir photos because they are such a challenge. It’s a fine line between slutty and classy. I like to skirt that line. It’s also a challenge because of how nervous and uncomfortable the ladies get. My client for this shoot was literally shaking at the start. It takes patience and a calming presence to get people to come out of their shell. A couple of laughs and some wine, don’t hurt either.
As always, what I hope to capture are natural pictures that make the woman look beautiful and sexy. I usually shoot boudoir in black and white but ventured to color for this one (my defense of black and white photography is set to come later). I love the soft tones and femininity of this shoot. These are some of my favorite of the shoot. I wish I can show more but I like to keep my clients anonymous.
I must be doing something right because all of the brides I have booked for the coming year have already scheduled their boudoir sessions. All I can say is, bring it on.
