I Heart the Internet

Today I want to give a little love to the internet and the wonderful gems I’ve found, enjoy and pretty much obsess over daily. Mike thinks I need help. Maybe I’m addicted to the internet like kids in South Korea. Something like 15% of the teenage population there is addicted to the net. True story. I saw it on Channel One News. The more you know, right? Anyway, these are the places I visit when I don’t want to do the work I should be doing.

ROCKSTAR DIARIES ~~~<@ Shut up! That’s how I feel whenever I see a picture Naomi takes or see her super cute outfits that I can never pull off. She makes me want to have bangs and tell cool stories about adventures around DC. Plus, she’s sweet and even told me where I can by Polaroid film.

DLISTED ~~~<@ All credit belongs to my sister Yani (or Yan Rathers as she wrote in her lastest comment). Michael K would not be a part of my life had it not been for her. All the latest celebrity gossip delivered with curse words and delightfully sordid stories. I heart him.

THE BEHOLDER ~~~<@ I feel like I know this girl. So forthcoming about her life and her adventures with her husband. It helps that she is the daughter of one of my favorite writers. She is, however, a writer in her own right (say that five times fast!). I suggest you check out her blog.

KISS THE GROOM ~~~<@ Oh, to take pictures like this woman. This is what I strive to be.

NATALIE NORTON PHOTO ~~~<@ Though she is a very talented and knowledgeable photographer, Natalie inspires me in a totally different aspect of my life. I rediscovered the power of faith after reading her story of the death of her baby boy. I strive to have faith like her.

PLAYING GROWN UP ~~~<@ Brooke documents her struggles with becoming a “grown up.” I like reading her stories and think her and her husband are cute. Plus, (and that’s a big ‘ol plus!) she just admitted to loving Harry Potter, which wins you 1,000 points in Elaine’s coolness scale.

MY BEST GOOD FRIEND SCOTT’S TWITTER ~~~<@ This is my best good friend Scott. He hates it when I do girlie things like cry and talk about shopping. He’s going to be so pissed that there is a girlie flower next to his name. But he’s awesome because he’s super supportive of this crazy photography nonsense I got into.

…SENDING POSTCARDS ~~~<@ A story to prove that Walt Disney and his creepy looking puppets were right and it is, in fact, a small world after all. I love photography (clearly) and love scouring the internet for photographers who make something as traditional as a wedding seem fresh and new. I stumbled across this photographer named Max Wagner, who is so sick it hurts, and these beautiful pictures of a wonderful ceremony with only the bride and groom. Flash forward to yesterday when I get a comment on one of my blog posts from the bride herself, Mina. Needless to say I was ecstatic. For one, someone that I didn’t know or am related to commented (hey, I still love my family and friends! Keep writing!), and it was someone who I admired in pictures. When I went to check out her website, I fell in love. Mina and her husband Alex sold their house and almost all their belongings and are now (as I type this) traipsing around the world with only backpacks. Oh, to be that courageous. I started reading everything from when they announced this plan to their current location somewhere in South America. It’s so wonderful to see people do this and know that this possibility is out there even if I will only ever experience it vicariously.

So there. Click away.

~~~<@
Hey, how about a picture?
I haven’t blogged about this wedding, yet, though Lissette and Sam are all up on my website. I love this picture. Not because it’s greatly composed or particularly spectacular, but because it’s just so her. I took this right before she turned the corner to walk up the aisle. I think it says so much of the nervousness we brides feel. She’s about to walk towards the man she’s going to marry. The man who will be her forever. I love this picture because it’s all right there on her face. And despite the nerves and weight of it all, she turns the corner anyway.
Love, e
Scott - Why am I Mr. Pink (rose)? At the very least, you could have given my rose a thorn.
[Points mouse to "Poison" in iTunes]
Yom DeLuise - Michael K and I are soul mates.
Brooke Premo - Yay! I made the cool list! Thanks for the props.
Oh my goodness, I love the narrator on Pushing Daisies (not to mention the incredible-ness of that show!) so I will definitely be checking out those audio books.
